Whoo! I finished Week 1 in Couch to 5k! I don’t know why I decided to do C25K riiiiiight when it started to get hot out. The regular Texas heat feels like it’s at least quadrupled with the humidity. You sweat when you THINK about putting on your shoes. But nevertheless, she persisted.
Week 1 was tough… as I said on my instagram, my dog tried to lay down in the grass on multiple occasions while we were running. She is usually all gung-ho for the first quarter of a mile, then she becomes a 40 pound weight for me to attempt to lug behind me. Oh, my holy terror (as I call her), all I can do is roll my eyes when I think about her laying in defeat in the grass.
On day 1, I felt good. Somehow things changed after the cheerful voice said “you are halfway,” and I felt like I should be all the way back… in fact, I had already turned around and I ended up walking up and down my driveway for my three minute cool down because I turned around too soon.
- 5 minute warmup
- Alternate 60 seconds jogging and 90 seconds walking
- Repeat for a total of 8 times
- 3 minute cool down
Each of the 3 days, I burned approximately 250 calories and had a total distance of about 1.7 miles. I really enjoyed getting to know my road a little better. I also enjoyed the slightly laid back version of my dog that came home with me.
I am looking forward to Week 2. Check out my Run with me: introduction if you missed it!
I’m proud that I almost ran two miles three times this week! What are you proud of?
